Will my DC get laughed at in secondary if everything is name labelled?

I'm talking rulers, pencil cases, drink bottles etc with sticky printed name labels. Dtwin2 says they will. Confused

Surprisingly amusing thread Grin

Yeah - don't do the stationery!

AngieBolen · 10/08/2015 08:39

We name things at work, such as staplers, even if they're not actually ours and belong to work...to stop them being taken by someone else who will also have been issued with said item but mislaid it.

So I maybe a bit label mad. I was thinking of ordering myself some nice stick on labels Grin

We labelled all clothing, then Ds put his initials on everything else including pens, ruler, pritt stick etc with a sharpie.

He has just finished year 7. I did put sticky labels in all his shoes and football boots/trainers because loads of kids have the same ones. He says it makes it easy to recognise his shoes.

It has never been an issue name calling wise but I wouldn't use the printed sticky labels for anything in his pencil case/water bottle etc.

DS (aged 19) is currently sorting washing and has just mused about maybe labelling his pants so he and younger DS can tell easily whose are which.

Younger DS objects on the grounds that he uses any and all random pants anyway.

Older DS is Not Happy at this revelation, it would seem.

My 2 DD are the same size as me. Seriously considering labelling all pants in our house!

My DS's school provides them with individual stationary sets as we have been asked to pay for it. The school's official shop is labelling the lab coats, PE & Games Kits etc. We were also told at parents meeting to label EVERYTHING! The school doesn't keep any lost property.

I have iron on labels on all uniform including sports socks and shin pads and from what I can see do do the other children. Why on earth would you not?

I write names on calculators rulers and protractors as they are the ones which will inevitably be missing when they are most needed. Everything else is unlabelled.

After twice losing her pe kit with her name on the inside, I decided to put them on the outside. Grin

Now if someone else has accidentally picked anything up she/they can see who's wearing her kit! She's not thrilled, but she hasn't lost anything else.

Label uniform with initials in marker pen. Ditto calculator (I still have my Casio with my name scratched on).
Anything else is pretty much a lost cause for DS.
