Oversight of academies

If a school has been graded as 'outstanding' in the past by OFSTED and later changes to an academy, am I correct in thinking that it will not be inspected in the future?
If that is the case, who has any oversight of the decisions made by the governing body? Would it have been the local authority before it was an academy?

DS1 school was one of the first wave of academy converters years ago, after it's third successive outstanding Ofsted. It wasn't inspected for four years then in 2013 Ofsted came in and it was rated requiring improvement. So they do inspect but I am not sure of the criteria to trigger an inspection.

Outstanding academies can certainly be inspected if Ofsted are concerned. Parental complaints, safeguarding issues and concerns about the dashboard data (e.g. Pupil premium pupils not making enough progress) can trigger an inspection. They can also do a short inspection which will trigger a full inspection if issues are found.

Yes, they are inspected. Some seem to get away with it though for many years! Not sure how. Others do not, but still retain good or outstanding so inspection does not seem to be based on an issue causing concern.
