Can you help a Merton Mumsnetter find secondary schools that have excellent SEN policy that will give her DD 100%?

Hi

Posting on behalf of a local Mumsnetter who's not currently got access to technology!

"Please could you ask your members to recommend (local to SW London/North Surrey secondary schools that have an excellent SEN policy. I'm desperate that DD will find a school that will give her 100%."

Her DD is going into Year 6 in September so insights before the new academic year starts would be very helpful!

Thanks

I hear Raynes Park is good.

Surely that depends on the nature of the SEN as schools tend to specialise.

Presumably the primary school will have a pretty good idea which of the secondaries have SEN provision appropriate for each situation.

The DD concerned has dyspraxia.

Hi, I live in Merton and agree the nature of the SEN is key. I have heard good and bad accounts of experiences in mainstream here but for dyspraxia and dyslexia, I think support is generally good at secondary. I would recommend Rutlish but it's all boys so not much use to your DD! Definitely check with SENCO at your current school but I would follow up with appointments with SENCO at the schools they suggest and I would strongly recommend trying to talk to other parents of DCS with dyspraxia, as that's really the only way to know for sure. incidentally, Raynes Park will have a new head from September so expect some changes there.

Thanks for the insights!
