one
I never put it in the machine cause it goes floppy.
I wash it with a wet sponge which is something I copied from Gary Grant in a Hitchcock film.

1, ours are uber expensive and dry clean only. he had a new one when joined in yr 5, lasted til end year 7 then a friend kindly gave me her ds larger one which is now dying with 1 week to go! Can't imagine needing two as they spend most of time on the floor or in their lockers!

GaryBaldy · 03/07/2015 21:55

1 - even though cheap plastic affair it still cost me £45 due to stupid choice of colour (state school)

In year 7 it was washed weekly, by year 11 it was washed every term if I remembered!

Iwantacampervan · 03/07/2015 21:55

One each here and washed every half term - they don't need it any more frequently. The emptying of pockets into baskets for sorting is a half termly ritual!

Maladicta · 03/07/2015 21:55

Ds - 1 has lasted for Yrs 7 and 8 with only one repair to
the back where he'd ripped it.

Dd - on her 2nd, 1st did until Yr9 when it was far too short.

I get them dry cleaned for the start of every term.

InexperiencedDisneyMum · 03/07/2015 21:56

Just 1 and it still fits fine after a year.

HmmAnOxfordComma · 03/07/2015 22:30

One - they're £80...

AuditAngel · 03/07/2015 22:41

At £69 for the smallest size DS will be getting one.

Bunbaker · 03/07/2015 22:45

One. Washed every half term, or more often as and when required. DD is just finishing year 10 and is on her second blazer.

woodhill · 03/07/2015 22:45

one

AtiaoftheJulii · 03/07/2015 23:49

One. And although they've been big at the start of each year, each has only lasted ds a year (has just outgrown the third). He has to slow down at some point, surely?

Athenaviolet · 03/07/2015 23:56

1 never considered getting a spare.

dementedpixie · 04/07/2015 00:52

ours were only £29.50 so got 2

BackforGood · 04/07/2015 00:58

One.
Never heard of anyone getting a spare.
Can't believe all these people who are washing them regularly either Confused

Shesparkles · 04/07/2015 01:24

One-getting more than 1 has never entered my head! I wash it when it needs it-certainly never more than a couple of times per term.

roguedad · 04/07/2015 06:58

one machine washable - not used for large part of summer term

Madmog · 04/07/2015 10:29

At £58 - one! My DD's have lasted two years though and dry fairly quick after washing.

chemenger · 04/07/2015 10:37

One, dry cleaned in the holidays. Definitely not washable, well you could wash it but then you would be spending another £100+ for a new one! They usually last a couple of years. When they were growing fast we used to sell them through the school exchange, and buy second hand. In seniors they tend to be worn out rather than grown out of.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/07/2015 10:41

£45 each. We have one for each boy but like a PP, we keep last year's as a spare although they would be tight. My two grow a lot so they have needed a new one every year. At 14 and 13 they are both wearing age 18. DS1s is too short so he needs a new one but not sure of they have anything better. Again they are an unusual colour with a sewn on badge so options are limited. They go whitish at the elbow and shoulders. The school tell me that most people get 3 or 4 years from a blazer when I moaned about the cost.

MN164 · 04/07/2015 11:03

I think schools that have a mandatory uniform policy should be made to hold and promote to all parents a second hand uniform sale. Many PAs do this, but lots of people aren't even aware of it as an option before they join the school.

2 blazers - second hand - £30 total.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/07/2015 11:25

A parent at ours sells them 2nd hand but given that wearing them is compulsory, I have never had one yet that would be suitable to pass on so can't believe that it's worth buying a 2nd hand one. I think the main issue with ours is the colour. Fading on the high wear areas is very obvious and grease marks show up and are impossible to get out :(

AuditAngel · 04/07/2015 16:03

When I was at school the second (and the rest) hand Blazers were greatly desired as the old boys school/girls school Blazers had pale blue braid on them. Heaven only knows how many kids had worn them.

AtiaoftheJulii · 04/07/2015 16:24

My ds's school have a really good secondhand uniform shop, run by the parents association, who get all the money from it. They used to do it so parents donating clothes got a percentage, but that was really way too complicated, so now it's just a donation, and a good fundraiser. It opens 4 times a term, plus the spring fete - this year there were lots of prospective y7 parents shopping in there, and over the last 3 times it's been open (spring fete and 2 days after half term) we made over £700.

We also go through the lost property once a term, return anything named, and wash and sell anything unnamed that's in decent enough condition.

You need a room where you can keep everything though!

balletgirlmum · 04/07/2015 16:33

Dd had one for year 7 & 8 but now she's just had another bigger one I'm saving the old one. At £30 it's reasonable.

Ds's blazer will cost £102 to have one specially made in his size so he's just having the one.
