Girls schools with boys at sixth form

brumblebee · 29/06/2015 20:31

I'm aware that a number of boys' schools admit girls for sixth form - especially in my area of London i.e. Westminster, KCS, Trinity. However, I am interested to know if there are girls' schools that admit boys for sixth form. Does anyone know any of these?
No real motivation for my question. Just an idle curiosity based on a conversation over lunch today.

I know of one. But they have only had a couple of boys most years

GinUpGirl · 29/06/2015 20:37

My cousin is a boy at a girls school. Camden, maybe? I can't remember.

SquirrelChaser · 29/06/2015 20:37

The local girls' grammars do. My two older boys went from a boys' school to a girls' in the 6th form.

Thanks for the replies. So they do exist. Will google and see what I can find.

DSD2 goes to one, they have about 5 boys per year in the 6th form.

See that was my conversation starter, penny. I wondered if they were popular and if they then had an equal balance of boys.

Presdales in Ware does. However i dont know if any boys actually go. I know one year only 2 were at the induction day and at least one of them changed their mind A few of the girls end up at the boys school in Hertford for 6th form though.

DD1 did 6th form at a girls school that partnered with a local boys school. Core subjects were taught at the home school, but Latin, Business studies, Geology.. were taught across the two sites to mixed classes. Classes generally 50\50 seemed to work ok, so long as the kids could cope with the walking.

Greycoats in Westminster. (The school which educates mini-Goves and mini-Camerons.)

EvilTwins · 29/06/2015 22:47

Both the girls' grammars where I live. Both the boys' grammars have girls in the 6th form too.

GColdtimer · 29/06/2015 23:04

Not quite the same thing but my sixth form was mixed with the boys school. Depending on your subjects, you were either based at the girls or boys school.

BackforGood · 29/06/2015 23:07

Do you just mean in London, or is this an idle pondering about life in general ? Grin

My ds went to a girls' school for his 6th form.
State school, not a grammar. In the Midlands.

Waldegrave in Twickenham do so. The sixth form is super new there though - it was up to GCSE only but Richmond council changed its stance recently to allow the local comps to add a sixth form.

Abbots Bromley School (for Girls) have started to admit boys into the 6th. Don't know if any actually go..

brumblebee · 30/06/2015 20:34
