They will totally want to know. Talk to them as soon as possible. Best wishes,

Yes, definitely tell school. They may have a counsellor/guidance teacher dd can talk to. How old is dd?

HUgs.

Yes definitely tell school.

My DM notified mine when DGM was ill and they were really good.

I also dropped into DD1's (primary) school a few weeks ago when DM had a stroke - she's recovering well, but I had wanted to let them know in case DD was upset or had misheard something and said something strange.

I would. My Ds who is 7 is very close to his GF and when he was recently ill I went in and spoke to his teacher and she said they like to know so they can keep an eye on them just in case they behave differently to normal.

Hope your mum is ok.

Of course it is worth telling them. How can they support her properly if they don't know?

EllenJanethickerknickers · 17/06/2015 11:10

Yes, I would. I let both schools know when exH left.

I would let them know, that way someone knows how she feels. Not just about your Mum, but have a word with your DD and ask her which teachers she likes in school. I did this with my DD and she said she likes Head of Year, so I gently pointed out if she ever needed to speak to someone to go to her - that way your DD has someone in mind if ever she needs support. If you have a Pastoral Support Worker that's a good option, but the Head of Year will know most of them and my DD's is brilliant. Another contact would be registration tutor.
