Withdrawal of sibling place - advice?

We have applied for and accepted a sibling place for DC1 at our local community primary, where DC2is educated. This week we were approached by the private school where DC3 attends and offered a free place for DC2 (based on DC3's excellent progress since joining). This has come as a huge surprise and we are very interested in taking up this wonderful opportunity for DC2, but if we move from the state primary in July, will we lose our sibling place for DC1? We have had a genuine change in circumstances and are agonising on what to do. Has anyone been through anything similar and can offer advice?

So DC1 is the eldest or the youngest???

Forgot to include we would have qualified for the primary place on distance but applied on sibling basis as that was the case when we applied.

Dc1 is the youngest, DC3 the oldest.

That's an inversion of the normal way it's used on MN, and may lead to confusion.

When would DC2 start at the private school? As most break up in the first week in July, I think it's unlikely they'd want more than a settle day or two before the summer.

How oversubscribed is the current primary? Do you happen to know if there is a waiting list for places in DC2's year group?

Dc2 would start Sept 2015. The primary is oversubscribed but I don't know about waiting list for DC2's year.

You don't need to inform the school he is leaving until the first day of term in September anyway.
