Only another week to go for DD, but I know some of you have two weeks.

tillY - its just an acronym for the priority order of maths operations, which back in the day I think we just learned without an acronym.
(Brackets, Order, Divide, Multiply, Add, Subtract)

Glad DD's school doesn't do the 'business dress' thing. I think short skirts and shorts (even over leggings) and bare midriffs are banned, that's about it. She's still in a quandary though as the only thing she likes are black skinnies but doesn't want to look as though she never changes her trousies! Grin

I'm afraid Comrade Gove's evil plan has failed with her on maths, though the iGCSE chemistry is apparently designed to be the final nail in that once thriving industry.

auntpetunia · 08/06/2015 20:40

That's maths done Edexcel "better than the last one, which wouldn't be hard!" So fingers crossed thats good. As DS is now officially on study leave he's been home "revising " all afternoon, though messed up by posting a new highest ranking on fb game at 2.30 so not all revision !! Science chemistry tomorrow so he can have a lie in the school for 11 for revision.

BackforGood · 08/06/2015 21:08

dd is gutted - up until now, her 6th form has been wear what you want (there prob were some rules, but her "uniform" of jeans and a hoodie would have been fine) but from September they are now saying "Business dress" too just as offices are all becoming FAR less formal than they ever used to be, across all sorts of industries..

She will have to be forced into a shop with me - her worst nightmare Shock

bigTillyMint · 08/06/2015 21:21

Actually I think one if the potential sixth forms says work wear, which does not inclusive clubbing or beach wearGrin

HSMMaCM · 08/06/2015 21:54

Came upstairs to find DD in tears. She's been trying to revise without her revision guide, because she lost it. I said, "it's under your bed", she said "No, you've moved it". I pulled it out from under the bed (there's not much under there, just a couple of books and pens). I wish she'd asked me earlier, as she has obviously been totally stressed out about it. :(

Is she ok now?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2015 22:42

Oh dear, poor girl. Was this for an exam tomorrow ?

HSMMaCM · 08/06/2015 23:08

Yes, an exam tomorrow. She came into my room to go through some of it with me, but she was just so stressed that I sent her to bed. I think tomorrow might be a difficult morning.

Oh poor her!
DT went "amazingly well" He did tell me what was tomorrow but in between that and Game of Thrones I've forgotten. Clearly Mother of the Year

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2015 23:38

Mines got chemistry pm so we don't have to get up early. Then a couple of days off before physics u1 on Friday afternoon

AmazingDisgrace · 09/06/2015 00:26

Chemistry here too tomorrow Between the A level thread and this I might need a kick on result days

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2015 06:18

Oh HSMSad They are so exhausted now, it's not surprising.

Thankfully DD has a day off before Eng Lang 2 and History 2 tomorrow. She is staying here and revising with her friend.

Good Luck to all the Chemistry takers.

SugarPlumTree · 09/06/2015 06:38

Oh dear HSMSad I hope she has slept last night, they really are shattered now (so are there parents)

DD now has nothing until Thursday where she has a clash with Philosophy and Japanese writing and a session in isolation. She's already said she's dreading that day so think the next two days could be rocky and another stomach migraine brewing. We're lucky though that will be her last day so easier to keep her up when end in sight.

TheWordFactory · 09/06/2015 06:45

Hope everyone slept ok ( DC and parents ).

DH is worrying about this maths now. DD isn't taking maths A level or anything remotely maths-y but she still needs a decent grade to get into sixth form. Or the one she wants to go to anyway.

GloriaSmud · 09/06/2015 06:46

Day off from exams for DD yesterday. She went in for revision but the sessions seemed to have fewer pupils in as they went along, until there were only her and someone else in a class!
Geography (am) and Chemistry (pm) today.

HSMMaCM · 09/06/2015 07:10

Childcare this morning and chemistry this afternoon, then physics Friday and we're done.

DD got a letter from sixth form yesterday, so it seems we're already being cut out of the loop.

Sugar - philosophy and Japanese sound impressive. Much more so than childcare. It was a funny choice for DD and everyone thinks I made her take it, because I work with children.

funambulist · 09/06/2015 07:52

My DS has Chemistry this afternoon, Religious Studies on Thursday, Physics on Friday and then he's done. Good luck to all the DCs doing exams today. Hope they go well.

LotusLight · 09/06/2015 07:56

One of mine who does not often speak has never talked as much to me yesterday all about Russian history. He's been reading beyond the syllabus and I said that's exactly what it's all about (education) - nothing much to do with exams at all, but about learning interesting things for life. Bodes well for history A level I suppose.

Ashbeeee · 09/06/2015 08:30

DD had a meltdown day yesterday. Started badly after the shoes she borrowed from me (again) she left out in the garden and the foxes ate them (weird) so I told her I was replacing them from her money (the last in many incidents of borrowing/trashing/not returning my stuff so not unreasonable?). Total meltdown, day spent in bed in the dark with Netflix. Ho hum. Only 3 more exams to go, then she's off doing fun stuff for weeks and weeks. I had to tell her to stop shouting /slamming doors as she was making pictures fall off the wall in the study where I was in conf calls.... I love working from home. So relaxing. Don't know how SAHMs do it. I'd be a basket case.
Are we going to have a new thread for results or is it too crass to talk about that at all/ right now?

I'm dying to know how everyone gets in and how they react, esp woolly s DD who has had such a trial.

Horsemad · 09/06/2015 08:56

Chemistry here this afternoon. Keep ticking them off! Smile

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2015 09:04

Ashbee, sorry to hear that. Not unreasonable at all - I would be fuming.
I remember years ago when the foxes ate my friends DC's shoes when they left them out overnight and the DH sewed new straps on them!

It's a roller-coaster with the emotions, isn't it?

I definitely need a support thread for the bit after the exams finish - I am rather worried about what DD may get up to when she has no school to cramp her style!

Eve · 09/06/2015 09:24

anyone know how long chemistry is this afternoon?

Horsemad · 09/06/2015 09:26

AQQ Chem is 1hr Eve.

Horsemad · 09/06/2015 09:26
