Waiting List movement again

I have just found out we are No6 on the waiting list for the school we would like. This was not our 1st choice school as it is is out of our area and I didn't think we stood a chance so I have only just put DD on the list, very surprised to find out we were 6th. I wondered if anyone with some experience of moving up lists could tell me if there is much of a chance of us getting in?

I appreciate that it depends on the area etc but wondered if it is worth getting my hopes up?

It really is impossible for anyone here to say, there are so many factors which influence your chances. Is the area urban/rural? Urban areas will tend to have a larger amount of movement. How many children are admitted - is it a single form entry or two/three classes? How many siblings are there - lots of siblings will mean less people turning down places? Honestly, sixth on some waiting lists might almost guarantee you a place, on others would leave you with no hope at all - too many variables here. And remember, you can move down as well as up on a waiting list!

Thanks Unexpected for the reality check. It is just so frustrating and I do know that most of the movement will probably have happened by now.

That's great news.

Still waiting here, but our second round round of allocations didn't start till last week, so there has been very little movement here so far.

Fingers crossed smellylittleorange. I'm still in shock, I keep looking at the e mail and waiting for the official letter. There has been a lot of movement on the lists so here's hoping for you.
