6th form application

baycrestmum · 26/04/2015 16:29

We are relocating to London and obviously are late to apply for 6th form for DD. DD is a bit average (4B and 4C most probably; if she does well, possibly 1-2 Bs become As for math or science) but she is hard working and has set her heart on 6th form. How is the chance to get into an average college in Bromley area?

I don't know if you might get people who know the area responding if you put Bromley in to the thread title ?

baycrestmum · 28/04/2015 01:42

Oh, yeah. I will do that.

Don't know about Bromley at all but I'd say look at all the websites of colleges and apply now. She is already very late indeed and they may well have made all their offers now.

No problem at all, she will easily pass the threshold for A levels. Of course, individual subjects may look for individual grades for their own courses.

No one gets turned away from 6th form these days, all young people are required to be in work, training or education. You might get turned away from a course, but will be offered another course. Obviously, it might not be what you want, but that's up to you.

Look into Shootershill in Greenwich, if the journey is not too far.

The sixth form college mine will go to closed to new applicants last September!

Charis - thank you! I will check with Shootershill. I have sent out some letters to schools in Bromley and Greenwich and am anxiously waiting for any replies. Titchy, you are right - from most schools websites they say they have closed application. Don't know what to do! Hope things are going like Charis said. DD doesnt mind which subjects are offered to her so long as they are not that challenging and she doesn't have much passion for any subject anyway. She just sets her heart on 6th form and university (average or below average ones). University sounds wonderful experience to her. She works very hard - just not bright enough to achieve bunches of A's in the next month or two.

I am starting the thread under "Bromley 6th from" so more people from that area might help me.
