Villages in West London (maybe moving)

If you live in West London within easy commute of SPGS, G&L or LU, please tell me which "villages" are worth looking at. Looking for quiet residential family house with local shops and a tube nearby. Not on the river floodplain and under a Heathrow flight path. Price cap £2.5m so that cuts out quite a few obvious streets/houses ..... 2,000 sq. ft. (200 m. sq.)?

Which "secret" streets, villages, areas would you look at or recommend? (Obv. not looking for your address and don't post that here!)

There is plane noise in Brook Green. There is plane noise everywhere in West London.

Sheperds Bush/hammersmith would be ideal for those school you mentioned. No flight noise. Schools are hard to get into though.

I would go for Chiswick.

On the state school question Holland Park seems to have the most "hype" around it. Catchment area is only half a mile this year though.

Thanks for all the excellent "Village" suggestions...... Cheekily going to ask for favourite "leafy" Street in each village and then get on Rightmove / Zoopla......

Wink

Thanks all for being so responsive.

The area between Chiswick and Shepherds Bush. Around Ravenscourt Park. Near your schools, great transport links, lots of families, safe, no airline noise.

That house is 5 mins walk from local shops on Askew Rd, 3 mins from park, 15 mins walk to Chiswick High Road, 15 mins walk to Westfield.

Hammersmith Academy is the secret school of the area - set up by the Mercers Company at the same time as West London Free School but without the hype.

Barnes is a pain for traffic - crossing Hammersmith Bridge can take forever, 20 minutes from St Paul's Boys in the morning when you've got Harrodian, the Swedish School & SPS school drop offs. Much easier to walk over the bridge if you stay south. The area to the west of Hammersmith Grove isn't too noisy planewise and all three schools are walkable.

Printscreen That house is brilliant - well done & it only went on yesterday.
