Anyone with a child at Kew House School, or starting in September?

I'm sure there will be a meet/greet day at some point, but find myself slightly in limbo wondering about when to order uniform/what to expect/whether dd will have anyone to travel with from here etc...

...though I know if I go ahead and post, I'm bound to get a letter from the school with all the above info within hours, thereby making me feel a plonker for posting

I have not received anything either. However, I believe there is an induction day some time in June, so I guess they school may send a note soon.

Hello, my child will be joining year 9 in September. I am also curious about how most kids get to school. Easiest for us is the district line but will there be other kids making their way from there? Also, have you been to any on site events? Impressions?

I don't know much about Kew House but someone recommended it for DD2 who is not very academic. Is it easy to pass the entrance exam ie is it currently taking children in Year 7 who can't get into Latymer, G&L etc and is therefore academically equivalent to schools like the Harrodian?In other words is it more of a fallback or are parents actively choosing KH over the academic Hammersmith schools?

Hi L2015, yes, I received the letter and all well now!

Neuroticnicky: it is a new school, and therefore 'unproven' so yes, has been a 'fall back' school for past two years. This year, however, they were oversubscribed and I know there are children from the consortium's own prep schools that didn't get in - so no longer so true.
I have no idea what other parents are choosing, or why, but our dd chose KH over the Hammersmith schools as she preferred the feel of it, and we went along with her choice as we thought the Head grounded, well versed in child development and current educational ideas, and hugely sensible. But then, I'm not known for choosing schools based on same criteria as the majority of SW London parents

TMB, dd will take the overground train I think - one stop, so not too bad.

Nicky - just to add, they said 40% (I think) of the entrance exam depends on the interview, at which kids present on something they're passionate about (science, arts, sports, etc) to a small group. Not as daunting as it sounds, because they're extremely good at making kids feel at ease - dd came out very happy. So although the written exams do count a lot, the interview is far more important than it is at many of the other SW London schools.

Just wondering how your kids are getting on at Kew? We’re waiting to find out if DS is being offered a place for Sep 2020 - would love any feedback on the school and how you feel about the head retiring ☺️
