Hi. Can anyone tell me what progression is expected between year 10 GCSE mocks and the final exams in year 11?

My son got B and C grades. What can we expect for next year?

Thanks.

One grade per year I think on the basis that in year 10 they won't have covered the full syllabus. So expect As and Bs. Unless the mock only contained questions on topics they've already covered, in which case expect the Bs and Cs attained. (Assuming they revised properly of course.)

I think it depends... Last year my year 11s achieved on average 0.9 of a grade higher than what they got in the mocks in the march of year 11! Some did not improve, some improved by one or even two grades, none did worse. That only applies to my subject though (history) no idea about other subjects at my school.

The biggest improvement came at the a/a* end

I would expect my yr 10s to go up a grade. I set their exam on topics taught, but most yr 10s don't revise as they will do for the real ones and lack exam practice
