Hi, since we got our fourth choice on allocation day we have been on the waiting list for out first choice, which we are now in the top 5. However, its really niggling me that I want to appeal. I just know that we have strong grounds to. I don't know where to start. I noticed there are some experts on here, if you are available, I would appreciate some advice either on the post or private message even better...Thankyou!

Is your first choice a faith school ?

Is your child applying from a faith school ?

To start the admission appeal process all you need to do is state that you wish to appeal because you believe that you have good grounds for appeal around (the fact that we believe that we were not in the admission category we should have been) or whatever else it is.
You then say that you will give a detailed appeal response as soon as possible - but it needs to be with the appeal people at least 3 weeks before the appeal date.
If you want to PM me, more than happy to help if I can.

Hiya, thanks for replying. No, it isn't a faith school and he isn't in a faith primary. There are 3 secondary schools local to us, two are popular and oversubscribed, and one is poor in results and has a bad reputation. We were offered the latter. I have been to our offered school and had a meeting with them to discuss our concerns, and they were very nice and did in some ways put our mind at rest. But only time will tell if the school is going to turn around as they are promising they are trying to do.
The reason he wants the first choice is because it is a computer and maths academy, those are his two favourite subjects and the facilities for this subject are excellent. I don't think that will sway anyone though! He is quite shy and is anxious about this process, and he is being investigated for a serious health condition, however doesn't have a firm diagnosis yet. I don't think we have anything to use here?!

Agree with tiggytape. Just to add that the important thing to remember is that you are appealing for your preferred school, not against the offered school. Try not to be negative about the school you've been offered in your appeal case.
