Hi all, very confused today, maybe someone can explain the following to me. My dd was on the cusp of our school catchment and therefore didn't get offered that particular school, on the 3rd march, I rang the school, who confirm that she missed it by a thread, and we should be offered this school when the next round of offered are made. The school said they would write to us mid april, to tell us where we are on waiting list. Today I rang the school again, and they told me they don't hold the waiting list, but the LEA draw it up, and I need to check with them? I just got off the phone with LEA and they told me that I need to check with them after the 1st May, they won't ring me, I need to ring them, but my question is this, if one does not ring and you're suppose to be next to be offered the school place, will the LEA not notify you? I am just afraid I might missed a place. Hope that make sense. Thanks

Fear not they will definitely contact you once a space opens up. In fact they are obliged to make every effort to contact you so even if you don't respond they'll chase you, though not indefinitely of course.

Thank you for that info titchy, trying to get info out of the LEA felt like pulling teeth out of them!

They won't ring you to tell you where you are on the waiting list, but they will contact you if a place comes up.
