LAC not of faith given low priority

My understanding was that all LAC had to be high priority. I have found a school that has LAC not of the faith lower down their admissions criteria. Is this in breach of the Schools Admissions Code?

Except for SEN (who must be admitted if the statement names the school), faith schools can admit all who qualify under faith criteria before any who do not qualify. LAC of the faith must be top. LAC not of the faith must be top of the non-faith criteria.

Meditrina is correct- IME, this means that LAC not of the faith can come as low as 13th priority in some faith schools.

I do think there needs to be a change in the code to ensure that all LAC are top priority for admissions for all schools; but that is not currently the case, and faith schools can prioritise as meditrina describes.

Have looked at the admission policy of the school and I agree with others this is a perfectly legal admission policy, giving priority to pupils of the faith before non-faith LAC.

It might be legal, but I do question the morality of it (as I'm sure everyone else replying does).

The reason that LAC need first dibs is because they might have come from a chaotic home and been subject to lots of disruption. And chaos and disruption are hardly conducive to getting christened before 6 months and going to church every Sunday...

Even my scant reading of the New Testament makes it very clear what Jesus would do.
