Anyone else waiting for offers day - March 2nd here?

We have put an out of catchment school as first choice. Second choice is our catchment school. Some years we would get into our first choice, some years we would not. So we are anxiously awaiting the email...

Has anyone in Wandsworth had anything? I've checked eadmissions but it just says they'll be out 2nd March - not giving a time. It probably won't matter to me anyway, I'm on the long shift and won't get back til 9pm, and DH and DS1 are completely unconcerned and look at me like I'm a madwoman when I mention it Grin

As I've said further up thread, and others have also said, it makes a mockery of the whole idea of National Offer Day being 2nd March, when people up and down the country are getting their offers on 27th, 28th February and 1st March! What's the point in making it universal and then the LEAs bending the rules!

Going back 4 years when we went through this with DS1, National Offer Day was Tuesday 1st March, however our council hadn't quite reached the 21st Century back then and it was all done by post (both application and offers). I remember a friend of mine in a neighbouring council getting an email on the morning of the 1st; whereas our council only SENT letters out on the 1st so we had to wait till the 2nd to get our results! That extra day's wait was torture!

I'm only presuming our email is going to be coming at midnight tonight, after speaking to my friend who went through this last year. She showed me a screenshot of her offer email, which was timed/dated at 00:50hrs on Monday 3rd March. So I'm just presuming it's going to be the same this year, early hours of tomorrow morning. I still haven't decided whether to take phone to bed, sit up and wait, or leave it till morning to check!

Flossiechops · 01/03/2015 12:04

Casgd I'm going to take a couple of sleeping tablets and leave my phone downstairs. Knowing me though I'll cave by 3am and check!! Speaking to a Mum at school hers didn't come until 7.30am but others were earlier so goodness knows. It's nail biting that's for sure!

Hello.mcan I join you all? Someone kindly linked me to here when I started a thread this morning looking for a secondary one!

I'm really nervous waiting.

DS has suspected AS and is being assesssed in a few months. (Been waiting for nearly 2 years!). I have applied for non catchment Academy with excellent Sen resource as first choice. Is same distance as catchment school.

2nd choice is a usually oversubscribed academy that I'd didnt even look round!

Didn't put a third because the only other school ism it catchment school so would get it anyway and don't want it anyway!

The first choice one has not been oversubscribed and had children from further away than us attend on previous years. I'm pinning all my hopes on this year being the same.

douchbag · 01/03/2015 12:32

We got our first choice absolutely over the moon Grin

douchbag · 01/03/2015 12:34

Here in lancashire the emails went out at 1.30am

They aren't bending the rules. The Admissions Code says that offers are made "on or about" 1st March. When 1st March is a weekday most LAs will make their offers on that day. There is more variability when 1st March falls on a weekend.

notnowbernadette · 01/03/2015 13:04

In stockport, some were notified yesterday and others today which isn't ideal as it created lots of anxiety. We got our second choice so we now need to find out how far down the waiting list we are for our first choice.

Miele I've transferred my anxiety onto dd too I don't think she would have thought too much about it otherwise. I know what you mean about a lot riding on it too. I have ds going up next yr so if dd gets in this year he will get a sibling place. Also senior school carries them into young adulthood and it's where they go through so many changes that I can't help but want it to be in the best possible place. All dds main friends are going to our first choice and if she doesn't get in the alternative isn't good. I've been looking at private schools but bloody at an average of 1k a month that's a no go!!

I am horrified for those of you who have to wait until tomorrow evening.

Ours is 9 am tomorrow and I'm not even sure why I'm so nervous, given that dd1's letter is a formality (she passed the test for the grammar stream of her preferred school), but I keep thinking some terrible admin balls-up might occur and she'll end up in one of the other schools in the area, none of which impressed me much.

I know I'm being daft but I need that cast-iron confirmation before I can relax.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting.

ChippyMinton · 01/03/2015 14:27

Has anyone downloaded the parent comms app for London E-admissions? I'm going to see if it works, as a way to access the outcome.

I am also waiting and feeling sick!
Does anyone have experience of when the Nottinghamshire offers are e mailed?

cece · 01/03/2015 16:07

oh wow some of you know already! I've just logged in to eadmissions and there is no news.

Ours came in at midnight last night/this morning. We got first choice which was unexpected as it's oversubscribed and we don't meet the first 10 admission criteria! Ds is very excited although it's a different school to his friends so there is some anxiety there.

rubystiles · 01/03/2015 18:10

Hi, we got our email this morning with second choice of school. Bit disappointed really but trying to look at the positives.

Sorry if it's already been asked but what do I need to do to still try and get our first choice? I don't want to necessarily appeal but would still like for ds to be on the waiting list. Does this happen automatically or do I need to contact the school?
