Anyone else waiting for offers day - March 2nd here?

We have put an out of catchment school as first choice. Second choice is our catchment school. Some years we would get into our first choice, some years we would not. So we are anxiously awaiting the email...

I am in a London Borough and have to wait until 5pm tomorrow. I've not mentioned it to DD today am keeping it inside. The reason I am nervous is DD has her heart set on first choice (all girls) they had to do a banding test and all her friends and her are in different bands, if it was based on distance from the school my DD would get a place first as we are slightly nearer.

My middle DD really wants to go to this school too, I will have to apply for her in October this year.

What does this mean, from my local LEA, about when school offers may be changed

When...the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admissions authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.

I'm confused because that doesn't define what a reasonable authority is or what circumstances are relevant.

I have two box sets ready in case I can't sleep tonight and I have a feeling the house is going to get a really good clean tomorrow morning. we are due to hear in the afternoon. Congratulations to all those that have the results they hoped for. I know in grand scheme of things this one decision isn't the be all or end all but right now it really feels it as we have a real chance of not being offered any of our three choices. Ds seems to have forgotten all about it so at least he isn't worrying. Good Luck everyone.

We received a letter yesterday. Dd got second choice. First choice says on website they will admit more after 2weeks and we should contact them then (it is an academy). So I should return the form saying I want the place she has been given? I don't want to be left without a place if academy did for some reason not admit her. DH doubting this is the right thing to do. Am I right?

Your advice has been so helpful Tiggy. Thank you. Can I ask pls, you mentioned that a council automatically withdraws place if one becomes available for you at higher ranked school. Do you know if that is the case with herts?

Hang in there to those of us on the final furlong of this crazy wait. Friend said she received letter yesterday that had tomorrow's date on. Just makes me wonder and bare my teeth at the vast variations re notifications. I know it's the '1st March falls on a weekend quirk' but it's cold comfort if you're affected - and amongst the very last to be informed. 6pm tomorrow is still such a very long way away. Waaaaaahhhh!!!

Does anyone know if previous appeals are considered before offers are made?

Our neighbour got a place at our first choice on appeal, their grounds for appeal apply equally to us, I wondered if that would make any difference or if we'll have to go through the same process.

Cheeky I'm contemplating putting my phone in the car so I can't keep checking every minute! I'm really tired already through lack of a good nights sleep. I've decided if I find out before dd goes to school & the news in bad I'm not going to tell her until after school. Good luck to you too hopefully this tomorrow it will all be positive news

Sorry but just wanted to confirm, all London councils will send their emails out from 5pm on Monday?

Tiggy - I'm in herts. Can I just check, if we get 2nd choice will they automatically put us on the list for 1st choice? We're just as happy with either so if we get 2nd choice we'll stick with that and I don't want it taken away.

Thanks, I just wondered if there was any learning from previous appeals where they got the process wrong, as they might with us. We'll have to wait until the morning and appeal if necessary. It's a question of interpretation of the boundary and if our neighbours are in we can't be out iyswim.
