We have put an out of catchment school as first choice. Second choice is our catchment school. Some years we would get into our first choice, some years we would not. So we are anxiously awaiting the email...

Predictably, the admissions website has crashed :-( very frustrating

CheekyBanana · 01/03/2015 04:01

Feeling totally sick. Again. Hope everyone relying on the admissions website has been able to get through. Don't know if I prefer having to wait for email, as dealing with a crashed site would send me over the edge. For sure.

One more sleep. Haven't slept properly for goodness knows how long. Hope the other nightwakers have managed some kip.

CheekyBanana · 01/03/2015 05:08

It's times like now I wish I have a TV in my room!! I've tried numerous alleged sleep-inducing techniques. All have failed!! I'm certain that an episode of Made in Chelsea would do it - sends me to sleep every single time! Grin

Flossiechops · 01/03/2015 07:22

I managed a better nights sleep with some tossing and turning but i was knackered from all the sleepless nights! Now tonight do i leave my phone downstairs and wait until morning to check or keep it by the bed and keep checking every 10 seconds throughout the night?? If its bad news then i would rather wait until the morning to find out i think. Tiggy or anybody else if you need to get onto waiting lists what is the process? Do you just ring the admissions office and is the same criteria still applied to the waiting lists i.e. siblings, distance etc?

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 01/03/2015 08:04

Where I live we were automatically put on a waiting list in admissions criteria order. You stay on this until Christmas and then if you want to remain on it you have to let them know. Anyone applying late though can leapfrog you.

miffyandsnoopy · 01/03/2015 08:09

Urgh I have stressed myself out even more now. I just logged in the admissions site, as I have seen people on here have heard early. On the list of emails sent section it says the secondary allocation email was sent to my email address on Friday at 3.54pm! I have not received this? They have sent me confirmation of my email address, and recently emails to check I have my login details so I know they have my email address correct. Why could it be that it says it was sent but I haven't received it? I should have just been patient, not looked and waited until tomorrow when they said we will get the emails, but now im worried about why if it was sent on Friday I haven't had it yet.

ChippyMinton · 01/03/2015 08:09

Morning all

Flossiechops - not sure how the waiting lists work in terms of being added.
I was just looking at DD's 2nd choice and it just says the waiting list will be maintained in the same order as the admissions criteria. I have just put the school's admissions officer's contact details into my phone so that I can email her to get us on the list immediately the offers come out.

Last year a friend got a call on Offers Day +1 to say they were top of the list and would most likely receive an offer when the acceptance period finished. The sooner you get on the waiting list the better, as it does move. Be aware though that you may go down the list as people that meet the criteria in a higher category get added Sad.

If distance is a criteria, you could amuse yourself by putting your 'rivals' addresses into a route planner and see who is closest to the school Wink

ChippyMinton · 01/03/2015 08:12

miffyandsnoopy - it could be that the emails were 'sent' by the sender but have been set with a 'delivery' time to ensure everyone receives at the same time?

cagsd · 01/03/2015 08:26

Flossiechops I've been having an identical dilemma!
"Now tonight do i leave my phone downstairs and wait until morning to check or keep it by the bed and keep checking every 10 seconds throughout the night?? If its bad news then i would rather wait until the morning to find out i think. "
This has been the source of my not sleeping for the past few nights! What to do for the best! I honestly would rather NOT know in the early hours of the morning cos what would that gain, but I just know that if I go to bed and don't check, I'll be awake all night knowing that the email is downstairs taunting me!!!

IdespairIreallydo · 01/03/2015 08:45

Email received, we got our first choice - phew!
Good luck to everyone waiting.

madhairday · 01/03/2015 08:54

We got our results by post yesterday despite applying online, no email yet - lots of very pissed off people round here who haven't had the letter or email when mist people have had the letter - shambolic, as it will mean most dc go into school knowing tomorrow but a few won't.

We're happy with out first choice so all good. We went a slightly odd route as ds passed the grammar school entrance exam but we decided against for a variety of reasons. Think it was the right decision. ..as it is he's going to a brand new school juSt down the road.

CheekyBanana · 01/03/2015 09:02

Ahh, see I won't have your dilemma Flossie and Cags, as we aren't expecting email until tomorrow evening. I'm doing all I can to stay positive an channelling good vibes - at least for today.

Having cheesecake for breakfast and I Don't Care!!

It feels as though we will be the last county to receive the news (Monday evening). If 2nd March is supposed to be 'National Offer Day', then why are people receiving letters & emails on 27th and 28th February?

HHH3 · 01/03/2015 09:45

What county TheFirst? We also have to wait til tomorrow evening.

TheFirstOfHerName · 01/03/2015 09:47

Hertfordshire. I wouldn't mind the wait if it didn't feel as though half the country already knows.

Gemma77 · 01/03/2015 09:49

Really nervous about the results tomorrow. Just looked at my application online and it's still showing our old address... Despite being told that our record would be updated with our new address by the admissions team?

We moved in early November and I sent all the evidence to the admissions team. They told me by phone that they had updated records (and gave permission for our primary school to change our sons address).

Do you think they have two systems?

We moved to be within catchment for a good school - our old address is in a catchment for a failing school.

Even with the Moreno guarantee we will get our first choice as it is so oversubscribed. So worried Sad

ragged · 01/03/2015 09:50

I'm in Norfolk where the computer systems failed last yr to allow any online applications, so (am pretty sure) everyone won't find out until we get real paper letters late this week I suppose. Appeals close 23 March so just over 2 weeks to respond.

HHH3 · 01/03/2015 09:54

I'm Herts as well. So unfair that we have to wait all day!

MrsShrek3 · 01/03/2015 10:04

Waiting here too, wanting ds2 to go to same high school as ds1, all great in theory except that he's not in a feeder primary and that's the top criteria. He'll be applying on #2, sibling allocation. Fingers crossed then. All other schools round here are either in special measures or heading there, so have only put the one on the form. Was quite blasé over it until today, now bricking it a bit.

sunnydayinmay · 01/03/2015 10:31

I keep worrying whether I've filled the form/application in properly. Herts, so stupidly complicated procedure. An online application plus three paper applications. I'm too nervous to check my copies!

Even a friend who is going for a sibling place is worrying if she has ticked the right box.

TheySaidThat · 01/03/2015 10:31

I'm in Devon and we, or at least, I, still don't know. Really not pleased that other people found out days ago, what a farce! The LIVE website has been down since last Wednesday too, I hope they get that fixed before midnight!!

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 01/03/2015 10:39

It was the same last year National Offer Day was Monday 3rd March but some were finding out on the Friday 28th February. It is a farce they should all stick to the date.

FryOneFatManic · 01/03/2015 10:47

I couldn't remember if it was the first or second that we get the results on. Just logged in to the council site and they just say that results will be online by midday tomorrow.

I'm about 99% certain DS will be at the same school as DD, but there's always that little niggle in the back of the mind so I just want confirmation.

FryOneFatManic · 01/03/2015 10:51

I don't recall getting an email with results when DD moved up to secondary, but I may have had one to let me know results were online. We have to log in to see our results.
