Nonsuch High school catchment area

Hi all,

I have a quick question on Nonsuch High school catchment area - we are thinking of eventually moving closer to this school around the time when my DD is year 6 to apply to this school. Would moving house a few months before the application forms submitted be too late? Or do we need to move and live in the new house for a year before the application.

I ask because I suspect that the school will become suspicious of all applicants who have not lived in the area for a long time and start investigating for fraud. (I presume you have to write how many years you have lived in the property?)

Thank you!

Personally, I don't think that the school will be suspicious even if you have lived in the property for not a long time because the reason there is a catchment area is for the students to come to school quickly and easily. There will be no reason for the school to be investigating every single applicants form too deeply either.

Nonsuch High School takes applicants based entirely on an entrance exam, so I'm not sure that how long you have lived in your house will be taken into account at all.

Thank you Gracegrapecherry and HappyHippyChick!

I think the admission criteria is such that the top 40% places are taken from the applicants who live anywhere, but the rest are picked from the catchment area, therefore greater chance if you live in the area.

As long as it is genuinely your permanent address you'll be fine, and as long as she passes the test.

They are proposing changing their arrangements for next year though so check they still ring fence catchment kids.

And yes she must pass their test in any case!
