Laser pens in school?

The most recent school newsletter includes a reminder that laser pens are banned. Is this a thing now? I can see that it's not good if a pupil points a laser pen in the direction of someone's eye, but why would a teenager even have a laser pen, let alone feel the need to bring one to school?

We have several at home - cat toys, screen pointers etc

They would take them to school to point at the whiteboard and make pests of themselves

What do laser pens do?

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2015 13:00

well, they look like a pen but have a laser coming out of the end .....

used as pointers in presentations
used as cat toys
used to endanger aircraft and blind people
