Years 10&11 - how much time on homework/revision?

How much time do your DCs spend on homework and revision, as I'm just wondering what's to come. My DD is assuming she'll do an average of a couple of hours a night and perhaps a day at weekends. She's hoping to do an art subject, so on top of whatever gets done at home, she's thinking about doing a couple of lunchtimes a week to keep up with it (Art Depart will them do that).

I think it's a case of getting the homework done to the best of their ability, but also having time for friends (as relationships are important) and some time to do their own thing.

It varies. DD spends at least an hour a night and most of a day at the weekend. Sometimes more or less. She does Art and it does take up a lot of time, but she seems to enjoy it and find it quite soothing. And she can draw in front of the TVWink

I doubt DS will want to spend as much time as that though next year!

In my opinion, not enough. However, they are his GCSEs, not mine. We will see.

School guidelines say 10h per week for Y10. In reality, he does about 5h per week.

DS-y10 does nothing. I expect that to continue thru y11.
His mate in y11 does 2-4 hours most days.
I don't expect a lot of difference in their final grades, but the mate will go further in life with her work ethic.

dd Yr11, does very little. She works hard at school, is on target with all her ..er, targets... and has done fine in her mocks.
Yes, possibly she could squeeze an extra grade here and there, if she did more, but I maintain all the other stuff she spends time on is giving her valuable skills too.

DD in year 11 spends on average 2.5 hours on homework per night and then 3 hours at the weekend but we're abroad so she's not doing GCSEs.
