Wandsworth Test Results 2014-2015 - enough for Graveney?

Pasteurella · 02/02/2015 13:35

Just got DS's test results for the WT, and he's got 247. I know it's going to be borderline, but does anyone have any idea what the lowest score to be accepted for Graveney last year was?

Just called the council and the cut off for 2014 on the 1st of September was 246. It was 253 on March the 1st as stated above. DS got 253 so fingers crossed as it is our top choice.

experiencedoptimist · 05/02/2015 13:41

Thanks all, I am just so relieved he has a place somewhere.

And there was little old me thinking National Offer Day was 2nd March! No one (bar Dave & Sam Cam obvs!) should know which state school they will be offered yet.

Your children have all scored well in the test and I hope you all get your preferred schools (choice is not an appropriate term, certainly not in London) but if you don't, the world will still keep turning and your children will still thrive and learn at all those other schools that aren't Graveney!

Pasteurella · 05/02/2015 15:00

Thanks Faybian, that's good information!

experiencedoptimist I have reasons to want Graveney in particular for DS which I'm not going to go into as they would totally out me, so I'm probably more committed than most, but there are of course 5 other schools on that form that would mostly be fine. I had a word with DS's SENCo and she ruled out a couple for DS though - still on there, because they're close. Do I want him to go there? Not if I genuinely have a choice. Which since he doesn't have a statement, I don't :)

I understand that lots of people on the forum have issues with the school system, and I agree that in London it's very competitive and not always fair, but there are other threads you can join to discuss that.

Pasturella love the passive-aggressive Smile! You're surely not trying to say which threads others can and cannot comment on? On a public forum?

Good luck on the 2nd March.

Pasteurella · 05/02/2015 18:52

Good luck on 1st Sept experiencedoptomist! (by the way it's Pasteurella)

I guess you know exactly where your child is going this September then and would be happy with that school.

No, you can say what you want, I was trying to point out that there are better places. You can take that any way you want, if you're determined to find fault that's up to you.

experiencedoptimist · 06/02/2015 09:21

Yes I know exactly where my child is going in Spetember as he will be starting y8! It was last year for my last DS Pasteurella.

So having been through it, I think I know something of what I speak!

Having children at 2 different schools I also know that schools are more than they appear on paper.

And having opted against Graveney for my last DS (as it didn't suit him and he would not have thrived there) despite his twin siblings being very happy there, I know that other schools are just as good.

Pasteurella · 06/02/2015 22:10

Well done having been through it.

I've got the information I was after so I'm off Smile

Thanks for the help everyone!

Good luck Pasteurella. Thanks for sharing the number & letting us know that the marks were available.

Harleyjosh · 11/02/2015 12:10

Just got the letter from DD2's school and I'm in mild shock. I wasn't expecting to get these results until after the school places were offered just like DD1 in 2013. I wonder what the cut off will be....
We are so happy with DD1's school and assumed DD2 would be going there in September but maybe not...
Hells bells - think I need a drink at 12.09 in the afternoon.

LittleFluffyMoo · 11/02/2015 20:18

What did your DD2 get Harleyjosh? Sounds good!

Harleyjosh · 12/02/2015 10:33

She got 248. I knew she would be fine in the Non VR but thought the VR score would be lower so I really didn't think there was a chance of her going anywhere but her sister's school (her second choice).
The score is borderline anyway for Gravney and I would think not good enough for a first round offer(if at all...)so we have some time. Scores may all be higher this year than in the previous two.
I came on here as I was so shocked to get the results and wondered if others had received theres - I didn't think we got them until March - the school never mentioned it and I thought it was the results from a height/weight measure day they had a month ago!!!
She is happy anyway with either of her two top options which is the main thing. I would prefer not to have two children in two boroughs but if she does get an offer I think she will want to take it and the discipline of Gravney would push my bright but very laid back girl.

LittleFluffyMoo · 13/02/2015 10:46

It's a really good score, Harleyjosh!

Why do you think scores might be higher this year? Hopefully they'll be lower! Smile

Harleyjosh · 13/02/2015 16:55

I have no idea why I think it will be higher - the truth is I haven't a clue!
I have banned her from discussing her score with anyone at school so I have no idea how any of her friends have done relative to her. I don't want to discuss it with any of my Yr6 Mum friends in case they are disappointed with how ther children have done. I've been avoiding people actually and just mumbling that we are pleased if anyone asked.
I am just so glad she didn't let herself down on the day - she refused to practice very often and I thought she might lose focus halfway through tbh. Anyway from here whatever will be will be.....

StreathamHillary · 15/02/2015 10:17

Well done, HarleyJosh - what is your second option school? (or maybe you don't want to say)

Harleyjosh · 15/02/2015 17:46

I don't mind saying StreathamHillary. It is actually MY first option school. It is Lady Margaret in Parsons Green - I would prefer her to go there as her sister is in Year 8 and we love the school. Gravney is HER first choice though so it is the top choice on the form(plus she will get a sibling place at LMS so it made no sense to do them in any other order).
And just in case anyone wonders why if I prefer LMS I didn't insist she goes there - I let DD1 chose her school so it is only fair DD2 should be allowed to do the same.

swampster · 21/02/2015 21:12

We are in a secondary school black hole so i am having kittens about this and counting down the minutes until 2 March. Our DS's best bets are being one of 63/1,000+ applicants or getting his name pulled out of the Sorting Hat. I can't bear it.

Harleyjosh · 22/02/2015 11:26

Good luck swampster and everyone else too. It is all crazy - I swore I would not get dragged into all of this yet here I am watching this thread....

swampster · 23/02/2015 10:46

Thank you, Harleyjosh, and good luck to you too.

MaeMobley · 02/03/2015 18:32

How did you all do? we got DH's first choice - Wilson's.

LittleFluffyMoo · 02/03/2015 21:08

Ashcroft, but hoping for Graveney on the waiting list. Anyone know the first round cut off at all?

LittleFluffyMoo · 02/03/2015 21:32

Wilson's is really good! A friend at work is also keeping her fingers crossed for their son - hopefully I'll hear good news from her tomorrow! We didn't try for the Sutton schools - did think about it but it just seemed a bit too far from where we are.

LittleFluffyMoo · 03/03/2015 10:57

Info for those interested - cut off for Graveney this year is 253, but likely to go down.

GraveneyLady · 03/03/2015 14:07

Waves to everyone on the thread.

Moo is quite right - the current cut-off for Category 1 places is 253 (same as this time last year)

Harleyjosh · 04/03/2015 16:20

Congratulations to all our DD's and DS's.
Maemobley - a friend has a son in year 8 at Wilsons and he loves it.

My DD was offered Lady Margaret School and a top band place so I am very happy. She says she is also happy but I think a little bit of her is still thinking of Graveney and wondered if she will be offered a place at month end. She knows she is on the wait list.
If so it really is decision time and the choice is hers.....

Notenoughsleepmumof3 · 10/03/2015 00:45

If anyone out there hears of the Graveney Wait list offers starting to go out, please let us all know. We too are waiting. Got our 3rd choice which is still a great option and she is happy with it, but my dd would still prefer Graveney as friends going there on sibling places. We live too far away for that so could only hope for an extension place. She's 16th with a score of, but that may be too far down the line.
