Tutoring costs

I have asked an ex-colleague to tutor my dd prior to taking her maths GCSE. I've looked at various tutoring websites but they're all decidedly cagey about costs so wondered if anyone could help with how much to pay.

Many thanks. TIA

Depends where you live. Assuming ex maths teacher so v qualified. But ex colleague so kind of mates rates.

I'd say between 25-30 pounds per hour depending on location

DarkBlueEyes · 01/02/2015 19:52

In London it's £50 an hour standard.

We're in southern Hampshire. Ex-colleague is a primary teacher who has a maths degree ..............

Thanks for replying Smile

I charge £25 per hour. This is on the lower end of the scale.

We are in North West London and pay £40 for and English tutor once a week.

Friends in Manchester are paying £25/£30 per hour. One family friend whose DD sat the 11+ last autumn did it fortnightly for over a year because they simply could not afford it on a weekly basis.

I live elsewhere and decided to save my money and opted for the more tortuous DIY route. Not sure whether I can cope with doing it again with DC2 who is a less amenable personality than DC1!

We paid £25 per hour - but she wasn't a 'full on 11+ tutor'. Much more gentle.

We then paid £40 per hour for Mock Exams, and feed back sessions from a 'full on 11+ tutor'.

In London.

mandy214 · 12/02/2015 15:38

Opal currently paying £37.50 per hour in Alty!

BigBugs · 12/02/2015 15:42

I am paying £30 per hour for a GCSE maths tutor for DS in west London.

LittleFluffyMoo · 13/02/2015 22:41

We paid £20/hr in SW London a couple of years ago but have heard of some tutors going up to £60/hr!

LittleFluffyMoo · 13/02/2015 22:43

We ended up teaching our DS ourselves though, and he's done fabulously :)

Meltingbutter · 14/02/2015 09:30

£25 ph for GSCE
£40 AS
Both current maths teachers, in the SW. Money well spent.
