Any grammar schools if you live in Windsor

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me of anyone who has child who goes to a Grammar school and lives in Windsor? My research suggests Windsor is too far for all the Slough ones and the one in Marlow - but I heard a rumour there are people at Slough Grammars who live in Windsor.
We are thinking of leaving Windsor based on not being able to get to a Grammar school and the only options being Windsor Boys or Girls. Is this true? Could you access the Holyport new school if you live in Windsor or do you need to live much nearer?

Holyport Admissions Policy. Looks like they favour pupils from Windsor Middle Schools.

Interesting - thank you for that. Doesn't seem to be many places available at all! Any knowledge of Grammar school allocation when living in Windsor?

If you moved to Buckinghamshire, you would have a higher chance of getting a Grammar school place because about 30-35% of children obtain a grammar school place in South Bucks and house prices would be broadly similar. Marlow, Burnham or High Wycombe would offer possibilities but you would need to do research regarding catchment areas of the schools you are interested in. The downside is that some of the Bucks secondary modern schools are not great so you need to choose your area carefully. If you cannot afford a private secondary school, I would choose where to live based on the catchment for the best secondary moderns in Bucks and then accept the grammar school that serves that area. They will all be pretty good, unlike the secondary moderns!

What year are your kids in? Currently the catchment for the Reading grammars extend to certain postcodes in Windsor, there are kids who travel in from that far afield.

Hi. I live in a Windsor too and I am also checking about grammar schools for my son who is currently in Yr 5. I think we should be fine with the ones in Slough as I read that catchment area is between 10miles. One of my friends who lives in Windsor has her 2 girls in Marlow grammar school. So I guess it also depends about exams and how many people applying. I love living in a Windsor and I have been checking which place could be better thinking about schools but I can not find a better place to live to be honest. Please any suggestions? We also considered moving for the schools but I think that life it’s a balance of a few things not just about schools. Hope that info helps. Marta.

Hi. I also live in a Windsor and had the same dilema. I deciddd to stay in Windsor. My friend has 2 girls and both are in W.Borlase’s. They also live in windsor. The first one got in. The other one went afterwards not in Yr 7 and because sister was there. I think they were very lucky. Langley has a big catchment area and has kids even from London. The girl who show me the school was actually from Uxbridge and her friend from Virginia waters. So really not everyone lives in slough. Talking to them encouraged me that being in Windsor is possible. I know because I just visited the school today as it was the open morning. I know it’s a a hard decision. For me it’s the same. Nothing isn’t guaranteed. But obviously distance is important. Hope that helps.
