Just a quick question. What is the expected level at the end of key stage three and what year does KS3 finish?

Y9 - level 5

Are you sure, juule? Only my ds is in Y7 & came home with his orders yesterday (not sure if this is a universal thing - every half term they have assesments on attainment, effort and sats target. The sats target for most subjects at the end of Y7 is 5 and for a couple of subjects,6. I'm a bit confused about this whole Sats thing to be honest.

Yes, I'm sure. It puzzled me,too as my children came out of primary school with level 5s. I still don't understand how they reconcile the primary levels with the secondary levels. One teacher told me that a level 5 at primary is easier than a level 5 at secondary. That doesn't seem to make sense to me and makes a bit of a mockery of the levels. Here is a link that gives a bit of info about it all.

Thanks, DD came home with some of hers yesterday (also yr7), they are also assessed each half term, her predicted grades at the end of KS3 (well the level she is expected to work to) kind of blew us away
