Think my dd will be sad to leave her friends.

Hi Original. I'm sure it will be fine - even the ones who end up somewhere different after results will probably be ok.

Emerald green prom dress obtained and it is very glamorous. DD2 pressed the firm (York) and insurance (Royal Holloway) whatsit today. All feels very real now.

hellsbells99 · 28/03/2015 19:32

My DD1 has also outgrown school but will be sad to leave her friends too. The age gap between DD1 and DD2 (year 12) is seeming quite large at the moment. DD1 currently has 3 friends round and they are off into town to meet up with a crowd celebrating a friends 18th birthday. I have reminded her that we are losing an hour tonight so if she comes home at 3am, it will actually be 4am and that means an hour less revision time tomorrow! She says she will probably come home about 1ish not holding my breath

hellsbells99 · 28/03/2015 19:48

No prom dress here yet. Apparently Cocktail dresses are the done thing (as opposed to the long ones they had for year 11 prom) so they can go clubbing after their leavers ball.

Yes, both my dd's (yr 11 and yr 13) bought short dresses today. I'm quite pleased because they can be re-used for other occasions.

Here it is Mumslife. Treat from grandparents - she is a lucky girl.

Littleham · 28/03/2015 20:24

The green one though!

hellsbells99 · 28/03/2015 20:27

I love that Littleham!
I hope DD chooses one as classy as that.
Year 13 does seem to be party party party.....

Horsemad · 28/03/2015 20:43

Littleham, that dress is gorgeous, I love it! Really hope DS goes to his Leavers Ball, he's so head in the clouds he'll forget knowing him!

NiceCardigan · 28/03/2015 22:12

Lovely dress Littleham

DS is at an 18th tonight and I'm picking up so am grumpy about the hour change

Leeds2 · 28/03/2015 23:06

Lovely dress, Littleham.

AmazingDisgrace · 28/03/2015 23:49

I've given the teenagers this weekend off. Oh yes, I have GCSEs AND A2s this year. Feel my pain. They have both been told that as of tomorrow they need to knuckle down and that no phones during revision!

circular · 29/03/2015 00:12

Welcome Original p, worrying times but just need fo stay positive and try and help make it happen.
No revision started here though, performance today, party to,irrow, fingers crossed for Monday.
What's all this prom after party business?
Presume they can't go 'clubbing' if not 18 yet.
Not even thought about dresses here.

I think a few of those that are not 18 may borrow ID!

circular · 29/03/2015 10:20

hellsbells my August born DD far too goody two shoes for that and only looks about 15.

If its in July, as I suspect, think she's the only one in her friendship group that won't be 18 Sad.

Waitingaround · 29/03/2015 11:15

Ds hasn't mentioned leavers parties at all- probably not particularly of interest to the boys (sexist I know!)

He is at college (no sixth forms here) so I don't think uni is significantly different, his college has very much a sink or swim mentality and are very hands off when it comes to study support etc they also have lecturers not teachers who they are on first name terms meeting with them at the pub after lectures ( Ds on soft drinks as 17 still). Grin

I'm worried about him leaving home especially as he firmed Durham and insured York, both of which are 6 hours away minimum. He however doesn't seem concerned!
