Don't apologise. This thread is for support - be it whilst our DC are studying/applying for further ed or dealing with whatever life throws at us during this time.

I'm waiting for DS1 to come home from his Driving Test - eeeek!!! Smile

polkadottyme · 05/03/2015 15:45

My dd has been offered a open day from Bath but no official offer?? should we take that as good news coming or its just computer hick up at bath?
good luck horsemad hope he comes home with a smiley face means good news

Horsemad · 05/03/2015 16:25

polka - Soton and M'cr did that and then made an offer after the visit day, so hopefully Bath are doing it that way.

DS PASSED!!! God I feel really old now, having a DC qualified to drive! Grin

Great news Horsemad!
DD1 has been driving since September ....and DD2 (yr12) has just sent off for her provisional licence - I am going to be a nervous wreck with the driving, AS and A2 exams!
And even worse I have agreed DD1 can have an 18th birthday party at home I am absolutely mad

Horsemad · 06/03/2015 00:29

Thanks all, he's very happy!! Grin Hellsbells an 18th party at home?? Shock
Ah, it'll be fiiiine! Smile

circular · 06/03/2015 06:31

Well done to Horsemads DS. DD been having lessons since summer, but postponed test 3 times so fat. hoping she will take it this month, already has car.

Been plenty teen party threads on Teenager forum. Hope you and DH will be staying at home!
Think DD wants 18th at home too, but not till summer and always an awkward time with results and holidays.

hellsbells99 · 06/03/2015 07:55

Hi circular and Horsemad - yes we will be staying at home! Also will be supervising to an extent by cooking pizzas etc. strict limit on numbers too.

Littleham · 06/03/2015 09:27

Well done to Horsemad's son. All these tests seem to coincide at once don't they?

Sounds like good news to me polkadot. Hope the interview goes well.

Hellsbells - good luck with that party & make sure it doesn't go on facebook!

My dd has flair up of a painful psoriasis type condition & I'm wondering whether it is related to exam season. Sad

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/03/2015 18:11

DD had an 18th at home - it was fine :) I stayed in, dh really didn't want to so he and the younger kids stayed over at MIL's. DD managed to chuck a dozen eggs on the kitchen floor during the preparation, and the dog was sick on my bed, but those were the only disasters! I did clear away anything that I'd be upset if it were broken, so the house looked quite bare Smile I ordered pizza about 1am and things pretty much settled down after that. Also my neighbours with small children were away which was most fortuitous!

seimum · 06/03/2015 19:46

DS 's 18th birthday yesterday.

No suggestion of a party at home, luckily. We took him to the pub last night, so he could buy us drinks (we gave him the money). Of course, he brought his ID, but his elder sisters didn't - then they all got asked for ID, and the DDs had to have soft drinks!

He is going to a party next week organised by a friend (at a rugby club, I think). Was meant to be tonight, but the chosen venue wouldn't open the bar unless everyone was going to be over 18, so they have had to move to an alternative.

Re; Finance
We want Ds to take a grant for uni fees only - will that make it long winded?

We'll/he'll pay out of long term uni savings account for accom/living expenses.
