DS falling behind English and Maths

Just received DS end of term report and he is below in both English and maths. He does struggle with English but has always managed to keep up. He has alwAys exceeded in Maths so this is a shock. I have asked the head of year (9) to contact me. It I wanted to aske if anyone here had been through the same and if you'd reciommend getting a tutor at this stage. I am single parent and work full time so I am beating myself up because I have no one else to share this with. Thank you. L

When you say falling behind what do you mean? Students are expected to at least make 2 levels of progress in ks3, crudely that is 2 sub levels a year. On that formula your son would be expected, at this time of year, to be working at the same level he was at the end of year 8.

Do you want to share his levels and his targets?
