Advice for Perse Prep entry

Hi all, long-time listener, first-time caller (almost) so go easy... ;-)

For better or worse, we're hoping to send our kids to the Perse, Cambridge. Has anyone any advice on how to prepare our children to enter the Prep (Year 3). I don't want to hothouse my kids, but I do want them to be appropriately prepared.

(Please, I really don't want to turn this into a 'rights and wrongs' of private education! I'm a long-time Guardian reader so I know all the arguments! But my local school is 'failing/inadequate', so we're over a barrel, really.)

Try asking this question on the Cambridge Local Mumsnet. There are a number of posters there who have DCs at Cambridge prep schools.
(FWIW our experience of Perse (senior) is that it is not remotely a hot house)
