Secondary schools which are good for dyslexia

Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for secondary school which are good for kids who are dyslexic? We are interested in Backwell though not in the catchment area at the moment, which I know has a great reputation, but I wondered if it was as good if you have dyslexia? Are there any other schools anyone would recommend? Other than the Bristol Dyslexic school. It would be great if anyone has a dyslexic child in secondary education has any views please? We would consider private if necessary, but hoping to go down the state route. Thank you!

Do you live in Bristol LEA OP?
Bristol Cathedral Choir school (co-ed) and Colston's Girls School (girls) do have places for Medical and Social Needs and I do know children who have qualified for these places with conditions such as dyslexia and dyspraxia who have been well supported by these schools.

Thanks, yes we do live in the Bristol LEA but would consider applying/moving to North Somerset LEA if it meant going to a better school.

I do have a friend who moved to Backwell whose children both did well at the school. As far as I know they didn't have dyslexia though.
Trouble is that most of the best performing schools in Bristol may be those that have the lowest number of children with these conditions. I guess you need to ask the schools directly what level of support they would give to children with dyslexia who are average of above average in ability.
Which schools are you considering and how old is your child now OP?
Please pm me for more info as there are somethings I know about Bristol schools that I wouldn't want to put on a public noticeboard.

Thanks for this, we have another year yet before we have to apply I just don't want to leave it all to the last moment. It's such an important decision.
