Hi, can parents help me please. How is Elthorne Park School as a local secondary school? We are considering applying to the school as it is the nearest and just wanted to hear any thoughts and experiences about this school.
Any comments will be most welcome!

I've worked with the school in a professional capacity, and thought it was a very good school. Pastoral support was outstanding. This was a couple of years ago- have you been to visit?

Yes, I have visited and liked the feel of it but wondered about the poor Ofsted compared to other local schools. it seems as if the new Headmaster has started to deal with it. I suppose I am looking for reassurance!

Ok reassurance here.I've had 3 children at the school one has left to go to a different 6th form. They are all doing/have done really well academically and have lovely friends and social lives. The ofsted was in the last week of summer term when half the school and teachers were on trips, also the Head had only been there a few months. It's not a perfect school but it's a really good local comp. If you can go to the musical after Christmas - it will show you what school spirit and enthusiasm Elthorne does so well.I have also taught in a couple of the other local schools and I was really glad that my children went to Elthorne.

Thank you fyfe65 for putting the Ofsted report into context!
Just hoping now then that DS will get a place in March. I will try and attend the musical.
What one hopes for is a safe school that one's child is happy and can learn.
