11 plus tutor wanted in Hertfordshire

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a good tutor for the 11 plus exams? My son will be applying to the South West Herts School Consortium and thus needs help with verbal reasoning and maths. I have been tutoring him myself but feel that with work we really need extra help.

Any reccomendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think people will be willing to post details of tutors here.

Hi htm123

OK, I understand that. But I'm quite happy for people to PM me if they prefer.

Thanks

My tips for the SW Herts test are as follows:

Maths: they need to be very accurate. No careless mistakes. Many children get 50/50 and the average score is very high. Make sure he understands all KS2 topics, even the ones he might not have covered yet at school.

VR: they need to be quick. 100 questions in 45 minutes is a lot. There are more different types of questions in the paper than you'd get in a Bond paper. Vocabulary can make the difference between a high score and a mediocre one.

Unless your child has no sense of pitch at all, you might as well give music aptitude a go too. There's nothing to lose.
