Watford Grammar, Ricky, Clement Danes

I wish we had the test results before the open evenings!

DS1 (bright, but very sensitive and feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing) absolutely loves Rickmansworth, was terrified by Clement Danes, and is currently telling me he doesn't even want to look at Watford Boys as he says:

"I won't know anyone going there; and if I fall in love with it and don't score high enough (which I probably won't), I'll just be really upset, so best not to put myself in that position".

I looked round on my own last year, and actually think it would be a good fit for him, but he has to feel happy about it.

The reality is, we may get Clement Dane on catchment, if we are lucky, but Ricky would be on the test results. He is bright, but we did the work at home, tried to keep it low key, so who knows.

I'm just thinking, if he does, by some miracle, get a really high score, then he should at least consider Watford Boys, but we will have no time to look at the school if he doesn't go to the open day this weekend.

Or, we just write it off now, and go for Ricky if he does well enough.

Sorry, bit rambling, but it is so hard with DS1 - I had to drag him round Clement Danes, and he was almost shaking. He ran away every time I spoke to a teacher.

(Always been like this, primary very good with him, already planning the transition process with him, but just have to get him through the door of the schools first!)

Sorry, I don't have a son at WBGS (yet) but I have girls at the sister school.
I have friends with kids at the boys' school though and they do rate it highly. If you think he has a chance of a high enough mark, then I'd do everything I could to get him to look around.
Hopefully someone with a son at the school will rock up and give their opinion!

Thabks, Five. I had a chat with him, and he agreed it was worth a look.

I was actually a bit disappointed - it seemed quite stale compared to when I went last year (on my own). DS still prefers the other schools, but at least we know now.

Yes, at least you aren't wondering 'what if?'
No school suits everyone and it sounds like he has a preference, so I'm sure he'll do well wherever he goes :)
