Wallington Girls Entrance Exam

DD just taken Wally Girls Exam today, it was a rainy day so a muddy feet all round.

Just wanted to check with other MNs - was it tough? Very proud that she passed the SET, so she is great for getting that far. The test seemed to push them a lot further but then if there are 900 odd girls going for 210 places then it has to be jolly hard.

Well done to all those DD who did the exam today. DD passed the SET but is only going to do Nonsuch as Wallington commute would be awful.

Busy week this week with Tiffin on Tuesday and Nonsuch next Saturday. Here's hoping she stays well as she was well under par for the SET and it was horrible for her (and me!)

My daughter took the Wallington test yesterday. I think that passing the eligibility test was a huge confidence booster for her; she found it demanding but manageable. We're out of borough so my daughter would have to do exceptionally well to get in. Just can't wait for these tests to be over so that she can get her life back!

Without any spoliers I think it was tough but the English paper sounded very fair and a good attempt to tutor proof the creative writing! We are out of catchment too but it has been a good experience and has given her confidence going forward for independents. Does anyone know what you are told if they pass? It it a simple pass/fail or do they give you an indication of rank like the boys used to do?

Sure I heard there was due to be over 1000 sitting.

In the Sutton Grammar school thread someone worked out that at the second stage there are 2.3 girls competing for each girls' place, but of course some of those will end up going private, some are using it as practice for Tiffin, some are out of catchment, so need a higher mark. So your chances are good.

Post explaining that is at 23.07 on 28/9
