Anyone tell me their experiences of this school. Dc going to have a taster day there soon and will sit reasoning paper and do free writing. Anyone know what's involved in their free writing? Is it story from a picture/ essay title/ descriptive piece? Any help/ views would be great!

Nice school, lovely kids, has been a bit bruised by having the prep/pre-prep go slight awry - might not be getting a full roll now? You may want to check accounts with charities commission to see how its doing financially as the wind seems to be blowing Kent College's way rather than St Eds amongst many of the people I know. But don't necessarily be out off by that because all the kids I know who've been through the school in recent years (seem to know loads of them for no particular reason) are thoroughly lovely people - noticeably so. Can't help with regard to taster day but I wouldn't worry too much - St Eds is not an academic hothouse (although kids do fine as far as I know), and I doubt they would be anything other than very welcoming and supportive.

Thanks Thereshallbeaspirin. Will check out the accounts as you suggest. We know some kids at Kent College and they're lovely kids too, but it seems a very sporty school and that is not my child!

Hi

I know it's an old post but can you please tell me more about how did it go on the taster day at st edmunds canterbury. What did they do or ask. Is your daughter still attending St Edmunds? I am thinking of sending my twins.

Hi there,
Just wondering if you sent your twins to St Edmund's, and, if so, if that worked for you.
thanks

My brother was there and was relentlessly bullied, the school did nothing. It has damaged him permanently. Admittedly it was in the 80s. I’d ask very carefully about their current policy on bullying, and what action is taken. Be alert to any signs of denial, it doesn’t happen here etc.

I know this is an old post, but how did the taste day go and what is your experience of the school if your children went there?

What is in the entrance exam going into year seven? Some say English and maths some say verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

thank you

We just removed our children from St Edmund's as there were being bullied and the school refused to do anything. The teachers struggled to spell as well which was worrisome.
