Blue Coats-Coventry. is this right?

I have started weighing up secondary schools for DD1 and (apart from some very strong concerns about their 6th form ethos) I was considering Blue Coats. But I have hit a very clear problem:
My DD attends church every fortnight, with me. She does not attend every week as she has access with her dad.
It has been made very clear that her chances of getting a place are thus 0.
I am starting to question whether applying is such a good idea now if such a 'dim view' is going to be taken of my daughter because of her parenting set up.

Am I overly concerned? Are the govenors really like this? Are they that oversubscribed that even though it's the nearest school her chances are 0?
Anyone a bit more knowledgeable as I am quite new to the area.

Unless you have weekly attendance at a CofE church you have jo chance. We have weekly attendance at catholic church and couldn't get my Dd in.

I see. I have weekly attendance but she cannot. Well, in all honesty I wont waste my time with them then.
Although I notice non cof e is a higher priority than other denominations. Clearly extended families are not welcome.

Can you suggest other schools nearby?

I think the policy may have changed this year. We applied for my Dd to start this year. We had an awful time and went to appeal with about 80 others. It was done on a points system but I think that may have changed. You only get 3 preferences here so choose carefully.

Are you near to Blue Coat?

seasavage · 23/09/2014 12:03

Oh yes. It's very close. But I don't want a whole appeals scenario.

Some of my Dd's friends went to Stoke Park this year. They are enjoying it so far. Caludon is a good school but you have to live in their catchment area which lists individual roads.
