Can anyone recommend any good universities providing foundation course for Art & Design which accept students completing GCSE with A-C grades in 8 subjects? Or any college with connection with the universities so that it's more easily to get in Y1?

I thought you needed 'A' Levels to get onto Foundation?

Foundation courses are after A levels. They prepare you for a an undergraduate degree course. Lots of local colleges do these courses but some are run by the universities that also do the undergraduate degree courses. It is best to look at where you might want to do the degree and see if a foundation course is offered there as well. If not, or the university is too far away, look locally.

Routes to Art & Design based courses at uni include:

  1. A levels then foundation course (at FE College usually) - 3 years
  2. BTEC in Art and Design (usually at FE College) - 2 years
  3. A levels then straight to uni but usually on the basis of having a large and varied portfolio which doesn't often happen at A level, hence the need for a year's foundation course - 2 years
  4. a mature student may be able to go to foundation without A Levels - 1 year

I heard of UCA Epsom as being a good Arts University but not sure if true but you can check their website.
