Is it a school or 6th form college?
Is it a maintained school?
Is it actually billed as an enrolment fee - or charges to cover materials or something ?

Never, heard of an enrolment fee, but realise most parents end up paying for materials or books, etc.

Wickeddevil · 11/09/2014 22:40

Not as such, but paid for induction and was given a direct debit form for the school charity. Which is optional of course. Hmm

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/09/2014 22:51

A bill from a state 6th form? How odd !

Tinuviel · 11/09/2014 22:56

Our sixth form charge £45 for use of textbooks etc. However, they return £25 of it at the end of the 2 years if all books are returned!

ElephantsNeverForgive · 11/09/2014 23:02

Yes, some of it was planner and tie, but about £8 for ????

And I've got £100 of textbooks on order.

Oh and sketch books, but that's normal. I'm used to paint, brushes and paper, it's part of living with DD.

ChillySundays · 12/09/2014 20:22

Caution money - refunded if all text books are returned at the end of the two years

Christinecagney · 12/09/2014 20:27

We were asked for £120 at our DS' state 6 the form college. I was outraged and refused to pay. We are a low income family in a wealthy area and it drives me mad how much they think you have money to spare for something that is state-funded. Which I write and told them. Didn't get a reply. But never again was I asked for money.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 12/09/2014 20:33

Nothing as yet. All the threads about books and calculators and common room subs have made me question DS1 each afternoon about whether I need to fork out for anything yet, but so far nothing apart from one Maths textbook which we knew about in advance.

chocolatespiders · 12/09/2014 22:29

Yes state 6th form.. Nothing in prospectus about it. Just got an email through parent pay.
Will email them and find out what it covers.

no enrolment fee, but we have paid for a memory stick and several books but dd1 is doing English though, so we expected that

floradora · 14/09/2014 15:23

Enrolment fees are illegal in state schools. Some dress it up as something else though

Kez100 · 14/09/2014 15:32

£30 for books deposit. £5 for locker deposit. Apparently, all refundable.

chocolatespiders · 14/09/2014 16:08

Illegal wow- it definitely said enrollment fee. Waiting to here back from them about it.
