DS was pleased to get A^ .I hadn't heard of it before and DS replied it was the same as A in other subjects. So I said 'oh, well done' But when I looked at the school website results for last year , only 4 students in his whole school got it in June 2013, so I am thinking it must be better than an A , and I maybe should have been more impressed?
Can anyone clarify?

Presumably its what DS1 told me was A distinction, higher than A. I haven't seen it written down (DS1 had A) but I know his friend achieved it.

Well done your DS!

Well done, your DS. My DS1 got it, too. Only 2 in his top set did. It's like an A* according to him. The qualification is graded U, C, B, A, A, and A^ which is A* with Distinction. Funnily enough he's going on to take Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing AS levels. Smile

It's an exceptional result! The A** is very difficult to achieve, on what is already a difficult course. I hope he is going on to take maths and further maths A-level as he clearly has a real talent for it.
