DD changing schools in yr 9

We are gearing up to move house at the moment and are hoping to move by the end of sept. DD is 13 and going into yr 9 and is undecided about moving schools. The new house is a couple of miles away and situated within 2 mins of a much better school.

Her current school has recently been placed in special measures so I would ideally like her to move to the better, closer school but I am obviously concerned about the disruption. She would have to catch the train if she stayed where she is and is worried about making new friends etc at the new school so she doesn't know what to do for the best. Her friendships have been tricky since starting secondary and she has experienced some bullying which has affected her but has one or two good friends that she has known since primary. She doesn't know anyone at the new school. Would it be a bad thing to move her at this age? I don't know what to do for the best so haven't made a decision yet but obviously I need to decide soon.
Also how would I go about it? Would moving be the best option? What do you think?

I moved at the beginning of yr 9 and it was fine Smile
The only issue I had was my new school had been having German lessons since yr 7 and I hadn't, so a bit to catch up on
I also went to 3 nurseries, 4 primary schools, 2 secondary schools and 2 colleges Grin and I survived!

Find out about spaces first, no point agonising over it if it can't happen.

My dd2 started school in y9 after being HE up to then. It was fine for her, gave her a while to settle in before choosing options. Friendships are still in flux, and being new seemed to make her interesting and she had no trouble meeting people.
