I'm starting to feel a nervous now about results day. My DS is predicted C's and B's in most of his GCSEs except French which despite working hard for he is predicted a D and ICT which was all coursework and looks like an A.
Good luck to everyone.

DD got 7 Cs and 2 Ds and got the all important maths and english - I was nearly crying when I rang DH, managed to hold it together though - 12 years of hard slog for her and us finally paid off!

Greenrememberedhills · 21/08/2014 10:47

Just in case there is bad news for some please can I say that my daughter buggered about and did badly a couple of years ago- mostly Ds.

At the time it seemed a disaster but now she just going shed her first year of A levels and worked hrs and did well.

Don't panic, whatever. If they don't do well, model staying calm and applying practical solutions.

That said, best of luck to all your kids.

Greenrememberedhills · 21/08/2014 10:48

Just finished year one and worked hard.

Doh!

MrsRuffdiamond · 21/08/2014 10:51

Does anyone know if they send out letters with the results on?

The exam boards don't, and I don't think schools normally send out results by post.

At our school, if the student is not going to be around on results day, someone (e.g. parent) can be nominated to pick up the results, but has to have signed permission. I think it always has to be done in person, and is better to be done on results day, as the next step (A levels, BTech) needs to be sorted out, and is dependent on the results.

CaptChaos · 21/08/2014 10:56

happy we're popping champagne here too.

congratulations ScouseJunior! Thanks

rogueelement · 21/08/2014 10:57

So pleased for those whose kids have got those Cs. I shed a wee tear when I read the posts from captchaos and robotlover68...

Good luck to everyone.

MrsRuffdiamond · 21/08/2014 11:01

Meant to say well done to all, on their results, btw! No GCSEs for us this year, but AS day was fraught last week, I can tell you!

CaptChaos · 21/08/2014 11:03

RobotLover that's brilliant news!

So lovely to see so many proud and happy parents.

Our children are all brilliant. All of them. There's ALWAYS a plan B.

NapoleonsNose · 21/08/2014 11:07

We're back and she got 5 As, 2 Bs and 3 Cs including a C in Maths which she really thought she'd not got. Very happy and proud. I may have been a little tearful!

RobotLover68 · 21/08/2014 11:14

well done to all the great results coming in - my DDs Cs are as fantastic as DS1s A* were a year ago - she's never got to sit maths or english again!

Kimaroo · 21/08/2014 11:16

Totally gobsmacked here with 7As and 3Bs. The B for Maths has me crying with joy when yesterday we didn't even think she'd get the all important C. Well done everyone, a fantastic set of results on here!

GraduallyGoneInsane · 21/08/2014 11:20

My DD2 got 2 A*s in art and dance, 2 As, 3Bs (including the dreaded English!), 3Cs and a D in Physics. We were genuinely fearful it would be a D in Maths too, and are delighted with the C!

She has worked like a bloody trooper, and always compares herself to DD1 who breezed through with a clutch of A*/As despite minimal effort. I'm delighted with her, and my only heartbreak is she is now definitively flying the nest to full time dance college, so combined with DD1s departure on a gap year, I only have the younger 2 left at home! Sob!

trevortrevorslattery · 21/08/2014 11:24

Well done to all the DCs

DSS has done better than expected with some, worse in others, but should be able to stay on for AS's next year - yeha!

CaptChaos · 21/08/2014 11:29

Really pleased for DSS trevor Thanks

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/08/2014 11:31

Congratulations to everyone's DCs Smile.

DS1 has aspergers and dyslexia. When he was 5 years old, his then HT told us that he "would never cope with mainstream school" (without even attempting to support his SENs) and excluded him - with the only options provided for us by the LEA being either a special school or home ed. From the ages of 5-11 DS was at a special school where, whilst the people were lovely, the pupils all had SN - mainly behavioural problems - and the focus was very much on managing behaviour than academic learning. DS1 left there with only very basic English & maths skills.

At age 11, we were advised that DS1 should transfer to a different special school for secondary. We refused as we felt strongly that he could be in a mainstream school and should at least be given the chance to try. Amongst much tutting & "well, we'll send his details on to school X anyway as he will probably end up there" DS started at a local mainstream secondary. I can't pretend for a minute that the last 5 years have been easy (to say the least), but with a lot of hard work & determination by both DS & an absolutely fantastic TA & SENCO he has made it. And today, the child who was written off at age 5 has 3 B's, 1 C, 4 D's & 1 E.

I know that many parents/DCs would be absolutely heartbroken with his grades, but I am over the bloody moon to put it mildly Grin.

DS1 is quite pleased - but more pleased at being invited to a party at the weekend, whilst we were at school collecting his grades!

Kimaroo · 21/08/2014 11:50

Bloody hell Santa that's amazing! I've got tears in my eyes just reading that. Well done Santa's ds!

trevortrevorslattery · 21/08/2014 11:54

Thanks Capt Smile

jonicomelately · 21/08/2014 11:54

Brilliant news Santa

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/08/2014 11:57

Thank you Kimaroo and joni. I am so happy! Grin

CaptChaos · 21/08/2014 12:04

Santa, that is amazing.

It's awful the way they write our children off. Our DS's have shown everyone. So, so pleased for your DS Thanks

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/08/2014 12:24

Thank you Capt.

Congratulations to your DS too Smile.

almapudden · 21/08/2014 12:36

Well done Santa's DS and well done everybody! I don't have children but I am a teacher and it's always fantastic to see pupils succeed -whether that means a C or an A* :)

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/08/2014 13:04

Thank you alma Smile.

ChillySundays · 21/08/2014 17:16

Well done to everyone! My attitude is as long as 100% effort put in it doesn't matter what grade comes out - they have done their best.
My DS has 11 grades ranging from A* to E and for those of you who have read my previous posts - no he didn't get his English! And no he didn't put 100% effort in either.

Looks like Plan B then!

turdfairynomore · 21/08/2014 18:57

5As and 5Bs!! DS and I are thrilled beyond words. I couldn't be more proud of all that he is and all that he's achieved. (Is it too early for the dog and I to go to bed???)
