My DD is taken a VR and NVR test (both GL assesment) amoungst others. I know she is given 50min for the VR test however no time information is given about the NVR other than it is timed ?

Anyone has any ideas about this as i have heard mixed answers one saying it's the same as VR, which i doubt as the answers are less or one other saying 12 min for each section ?

Bella, the pack I have has some instructions at the front of the answer book. There's a section called "Ways to do the Test Session" with three alternatives. It recommends Option 1 as closest to the real thing. First you read through the instructions at the top of each section together & get them to do the practice questions, giving them the answers. Then you give them 6 minutes to do the 12 test questions. Repeat for each of the 6 sections.

I remember when dd did it last year thinking the NVR was odd in that it was very short and broken down into shorter sections. I think dd only did two or three sections in the actual test, so only two or three different styles of question. As toomuchcricket said, the examiner stopped them between sections to do the practice questions before going on to the next bit of the test. It is worth going to the school open evenings to ask how the test is done at that school.

In Kent the (previous) Kent Test NVR was split into four sections each including 18 questions. Each section was 9 minutes long - so 30 seconds per question.

After sitting the test, my DD said it was really obvious who'd done a lot of practice, as those who hadn't sat practice papers only completed 4 or 5 questions in each section.

They split it into sections here too.I think it works out at 30 secomds per question
