State schools in Bishop's Stortford

We are thinking of moving to Bishop's Stortford and are very confused about secondary admissions! Seems that the arrangements for Herts&Essex and BS High (Boys) are quite complex and it's hard to know how close you would have to live to guarantee a place. I understand that Hockerill is pretty much just on selection as there are only two streets where kids get in on distance!

Question: which schools would you be likely to get into from these areas:

  1. The 'old town' west of the river but south of Hadham Road (Bartholomew Road, Apton Road South Road etc)
  2. Roads around Viliers-Sur-Marne Ave (Pynchbek, The Meadows, Honeybourne)
  3. Area north of Parsonage Lane (Heath Row, Collins Cross, Prestwick Drive)

Thanks!

Will your children be attending primary in BS first (because the single sex schools take a percentage from each primary)? If so you can ask the primary you have chosen approx. how many went to each school this year. Children usually live close to their primary.

(BS is fab by the way)
