Good luck to all the Scottish kids who will get their exam results tomorrow- especially to all those who have sat the new National 5s and may be feeling nervous - I know I am!!

Nat 5s here as well. I have my fingers crossed. DD seems to be having a crisis of confidence at the moment.

PiggyPlumPie · 05/08/2014 05:38

Purple my DD started panicking this week as well!

She was reasonably confident after the exams...

Hope the post comes early today!

combust22 · 05/08/2014 06:42

Glad it's not just me. I have to pop out shopping first- our post doesn't come till lunchtime, so it's best I keep busy. DS is feeling nervous too.

Dd signed up for text alerts. 5As and a B! Phew! Grin

SquirrelledAway · 05/08/2014 09:03

Well done purple's DD - you must be delighted!

Forgot to sign up in time for the text service, and our post doesn't come until lunchtime too.

Either DS is playing it cool or he genuinely is a space cadet as I had to remind him yesterday that the results come out today.

RawCoconutMacaroon · 05/08/2014 09:07

Also waiting for mail (usually late morning), which we have be told to open, as DS is away on holiday... I think the morning is going to crawl by SO slowly.

InkleWinkle · 05/08/2014 09:08

My nephew & some friends children are due these tomorrow. Do they get them online now or do they still have to wait for the postman?

combust22 · 05/08/2014 09:09

purple- that's fantastic!!!

Wel done to your DD she must be very happy. You can relax now!! ther rest of us are still on tenderhooks.

Luckily DS is still asleep, so I'm tiptoeing around so he doesn't have the agonising wait for too long.

I am really, really pleased. Everything was so up in the air this year - some details for the syllabus and portfolio work was changed at the last moment etc.. She was very pessimistic this week. Physics was always an unknown quantity as she had various issues with it during the year and had a hard job motivating herself to study for the exam, which she found very hard. I think she had decided she had failed it, so I am really delighted with a B. She is not carrying that subject on to Highers... thankfully!

I made her sign up for text and email results as our holiday plans were not finalised at the beginning of July, and was worried we would be away when the results appeared.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else.

Not so great here. A couple of Ds- I am not sure if that is still a pass.

5 As and 3 Bs here - one happy young lady!

combust22 · 05/08/2014 12:19

It's a fail.

Thanks Hereston. May affect his Higher choices.

Well done to your dd, PiggyPlumPie!

combust22 - I'm sorry to hear his results may affect his Higher choices. How many Nat5s did he sit?

I'm afraid I was one of the people who was upset that dd was only getting to do 6 subjects at the start of the year, and relieved at the end of the year when the reality of Portfolios, exam study etc. actually hit.

combust22 · 05/08/2014 13:02

Purple my son did 6 nat 5s. Failed 2 including physics. He came top of the year last september for Physics too, and won the year prize.

Happy DS here - great satisfaction in proving his English teacher wrong.

PurpleFrog · 05/08/2014 13:07

Oh combust22 - I don't know what to say. Sad

Was the pressure of this year just a big shock to him? Or did he get distracted by other things?

SquirrelledAway · 05/08/2014 13:08

Sorry to hear that combust, especially on the physics. I think we were lucky as our school seemed to manage getting through the whole curriculum in good time and teachers had done a good job of working out what needed to go into portfolios.

combust22 · 05/08/2014 13:09

purple- no idea. He Got straight As in his prelims, including 3 A*. He seemed fairly relaxed the month of the exams. Maybe too relaxed?

Oh combust22, the results must have been a big shock then! Sad

DD, overall, did better than in her Prelims, although the Prelims didn't include any marks for the Portfolio parts of English and Art. A lot of people did badly so I think the school had deliberately made the Prelims a bit on the tough side to give them a shock and make them work for the real thing.

For the new Nats you can no longer get a remark, only a clerical check that all questions have been marked and that the marking is in line with the guidelines. Only the exam script us checked, not the submitted work.
