A question for Y9 parents

I know all schools are different, and who knows what schools will be doing in 2 years time, but I'm trying to plan ahead to take the family back to NZ for a couple of weeks, probably over Easter 2016.
My eldest will be in Y9 by then and I'm wondering how much work she is likely to have to do over that time.
Those of you who have had Y9 children, can you remember how busy they were over these holidays?

DD1 is just finishing y10.

I think Easter y9 she had homework but not masses. It probably could have been done in 2 or 3 days focussed activity (as opposed to a couple of hours every morning for a week).

y10 was a lot more work!

None of mine ever did homework in the holidays in Yr9

Dragonlette · 22/07/2014 00:39

Dd1 didn't have any. I didn't set any for my year 9s either (I teach Maths), I think a couple of subjects set some but not much.

None here.

Take them to NZ they can do all the holiday homework on the plane. You could also do educational visits while you are there.

At our school the panic is to get projects finished for Easter, rather than HW over the holidays.

None. I thought he was lying but perhaps not! However, he never seems to have much homework and I cant believe that either.

Also remeber Y9s will have choosen their options by Easter, there is as much hope of DCs doing holiday HW in subjects they are dropping as hell freezing over.

There are only so many detentions teachers feel like supervising.

DD just finished Y9, I think she might have a had some homework over easter. Science and Maths are actual GCSE courses. She would have been fine being away for Easter.

Some people went away for Easter in DS1s Y11 GCSE year!

my son just finished y9 and he had revision over easter this year as the first day back they had their y9 EOY exams for three days . But think this varies from school to school really
