Do you stick achievement certificates up on the wall?

I know this is a minor problem to be dithering over, so bear with me

DD came home with a selection of certificates at the end of Year 7 - I'm very pleased and proud of her, she's worked hard despite finding the transition difficult, lots of 'always tries her best' in her end of year report.

When she was in primary, we always stuck any certificates up in the kitchen for a while after being awarded, so I feel like I should do the same with these. It just feels a bit odd - in primary it was always 'golden certificates' and they were given out for things like improvement at something the pupil struggled with, acts of kindness, etc. These are straight academic achievement (best in year at thing X), and somehow it seems different - ie partly about luck as well as working hard. But then if I went to someone's house I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a sports trophy or a music award out in the kitchen, and being sporty or musical is also a mixture of effort and talent . . .

No, we've never stuck certificates up.

Mine stick them on their bedroom wall.

We have one of those folders with clear pockets in them, certificates school photos ,reports and any school related stuff I want to keep go in them , dd10 loves looking back at reception stuff ,even caught ds15 having a nose the other day .

We have certificate folders too. DH and I both have professional portfolios with our CVs and certificated in them, so it's easy to persuade DD1 that we all keep our important papers in a smart folder.

We keep her Karate and Swim level certificates in there as well as school ones. She nearly has more than I do

Dd2 wouldn't put upschool stuff, but has all her gymnastics ones.

DD1 does have her Y10 core science top mark certificate discreetly on the side of her cupboard. It's a quiet two fingers to the twat who didn't let her do triple.

I'll get my own achievement cert soon (OU degree. I will pass but am on the border of 2 levels - find out at the end of the month). Maybe I should put them all on the fridge for a bit....

We do. We have a magnetic white board and certificates go up for a short time, or until something new comes along to go up. Then they go into clear plastic pockets in lever arch files.

elfycat, congratulations, you should, for sure. If I get my lifesaving coach cert it is definitely going on the fridge, it will have taken more effort than any other bit of paper apart from my driving test (though fortunately less money)

We put them on the mantelpiece for a whole, then they go upstairs. Ds1 puts his on his wall, dd puts hers somewhere (not sure where!) Ds2 tend to stay downstairs, he's only 8. Same with sport trophies, they stay down for a week and then go upstairs on their shelves. I like to make as big a deal of the academic stuff, cos Dd gets loads of sports trophies but Ds1 is really really bright so his is all academic

No. I used to put certificates them in the bureau. DD spent the book tokens she got for prizes at university. They lasted 3 years. I think the odd trophy spent a bit longer on the shelves - DD2 never got any book tokens!
