Still no information from secondary school

Ours break up here on Friday. My Dd is going to secondary school. I have still had no information from them despite asking numerous times. I am not alone the other parents at my school are the same.

With 3 days to go I still don't know the date they start or the times they start and finish. I found the uniform list on their website luckily.

Everyone else going to other schools have had meetings with the head and big information packs.

We met her tutor last week who was new to the school and couldn't answer our questions. She was also from another country and not very clearly spoken.

We didn't want this school but our appeal failed for our chosen school.

Is anyone elses school this crap with information?

That's very poor.

I would be tempted to visit the school personally with a list of basic info wanted and politely but firmly demand answers.

You need to know at least

• term dates
• start and finish times
• uniform and equipment requirements
• how the café system works

Are you sure there isn't a parents handbook hidden online somewhere?

That's not very promising. Has your DC not had the opportunity to go to an Induction Day? Our new year sixes come for a week in the summer term -it's hideous-.

Yes she went for the day but it was her primary school that gave us the information.

There is only one other school she could go to but it's dire. Only 50 of their 150+ places taken up.

I can't cope with the lack of information I like to be organised. If nothing comes today I am going to the school.

Their term dates will be online. Ask a parent of a year 7 there.

We were in a similar position with the secondary we were allocated. They then sent out information about 2 induction weeks they were doing for 4 days each week BUT each week was for a max of 35 students and the intake is 180!!! Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion - what is the point in having 2 induction weeks and not even having half the new year group there??????

Luckily our appeal was successful and we have just withdrawn our Ds from starting there in September.

My cousin has a Dd in year 10. She said this is the norm for them providing information.

How hard is it to send a letter out or update the website.

My ds school was on a residential and missed the transition day.
Have left another voicemail with the y7 head, they break up friday and I know nothing and he's the only one in his school going to this secondary.
Not a good start in my opinion.
This is the best of the worst after our appeal failed too. I just hope we win the lottery over the summer and he can go somewhere decent:)

It's the lying that's annoying me they keep saying they have sent stuff out when they clearly haven't. They failed their Ofsted recently so you would have thought they would be trying to make a good impression.

It gives you no hope does it!
I've told myself we will give it a year and reassess the situation.
There are lots of single sex schools here but we really wanted mixed so not left with many options.
Keep ringing them tomorrow, I received a call at 6.45 tonight from head of year 7 at ds New school and feel much better now. Works very late though, I was impressed, school recently inspected-requires improvement.
I'm dreading September.

I would have chosen single sex above a rubbish school though!
