Getting into the Rugby Grammar Schools if you live outside priority area

Hi there,

I have heard conflicting advice on admissions criteria. Do you need to get a much higher score if you live outside of the priority catchment area of the Rugby Grammar schools? I am thinking of moving to Crick, but I am concerned that would dramatically reduce our chances.

Lawrence Sheriff School (boys only)
Rugby High School (girls only)
Eastern Priority Circle – 50% of the places will be offered to children who reach the qualifying score in the selection test and reside within area 2, This circle has a radius of approximately 10 miles.

East Warwickshire – 50% of the places will be offered to children who reach the qualifying score in the selection test and reside within area 1. These areas include:

Rugby plus the parishes of Dunchurch, Thurlaston, Leamington Hastings, Birdingbury, Grandborough, Wolfhamcote, Willoughby, Binley Woods, Brinklow, Brandon and Bretford, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Bubbenhall, Wolston, Church Lawford, Long Lawford, Stretton-on-Dunsmore, Princethorpe, Frankton, Marton, Bourton and Draycote, Churchover, Clifton-on-Dunsmore, Combe Fields, Cosford, Easenhall, Harborough Magna, Kings Newnham, Little Lawford, Monks Kirby, Newton and Biggin, Pailton, Stretton-under-Fosse, Wibtoft, Willey and Withybrook.

Please call the Admissions Service to confirm your priority area if your address falls on the border-line on the priority area map.

As far as I could see Crick is withing the Eastern Priority Circle

or you could just send your children to Rugby School - like any decent parent would.....
