hi, can you help me write to the head of year 8 about my child performances.
Last year school report she had 5a in english (July 2013) and this year report she has a 5a as well (July 2014).
Her behaviour was not the best this year but nothing major to be called in the school for.
How do I put this to them without creating any trouble for my child.
I feel that the only way will be to use a private tutor? But I can't really afford it! So what do I do?

There are all kinds of things that could have happened so you should really let the English teacher you'd like to get some more information and find out how you can help the most effectively.

teh previous year teacher could have overinflated and development is not necessarily linear so its not necessarily the teacher's fault but I'm sure she 's not happy about her progress. either.

I'd ask to break the english into the attainment target components, such as Reading, Writing, and SPaG.

Dear English teacher (or possibly English HOD, not HT)

I am concerned that DD appears to have made no progress in English this year. According to reports I have received she ended y7 on a 5a, and is still a 5a now at the end of y8.

Has she really made no progress?

Is there a particular area that his holding her back?

Do you have any suggestions on how she can be helped to move forward in y9.

Kind regards

chouchou1
